This isn't breaking news, as there have been some other deaconesses in recent years, but the quote you shared was more straightforward than I had previously seen. That said, regardless of anyone's take on its necessity today, it has Church (and Biblical) precedence and shouldn't be exaggerated to assumptions of women priests or anything else.

There were Deaconesses in the early church. Why should there not be now? And if you have nothing polite to say, please do not respond to my comment. Respectful conversation is one thing, but vitriolic reactions are not ok.
